Assessment, Reporting and Recording

Assessment and examinations are an integral part of school life. It forms part of an ongoing process which allows students to identify what standard they have achieved and with the help of their teachers; plan ways in which to further raise their attainment and improve their standards. Students are assessed using a variety of methods including internal assessments and externally set public exams which take place at the end of Y9 and throughout Y10 and Y11.

The school operates its own assessment policy which seeks to track progress and identify students who are underachieving at the earliest opportunity. The school assessment structure is commonly referred to as PAL grades. Some of the features of the assessment team’s work and other useful information are summarized below.
