Rawmarsh And Deutschfeistritz Integration Und Sport – Living and Learning in One World (RADIUS)

Overview
The RADIUS (Rawmarsh And Deutschfeistritz Integration Und Sport) partnership is a cultural and sporting exchange programme involving students between the ages of 11-15 years that has an emphasis on the integration of Special Needs students in mainstream activities and sport. The programme also supports teacher exchange to develop pedagogy and integration strategies.

Lifelong Learning Programme logoRawmarsh Community School and Hauptschule Deutschfeistritz are sports schools who seek to further integrate students with Special Educational Needs in their curriculum. Sporting opportunities include participation in the Unified football programme of the Special Olympics movement - 'SO Get into It' and joint Unified winter sports and multi sports courses that facilitate English and Austrian students with special Educational Needs learning together in both target languages. Students will also take part in a reciprocal class exchange programme with a minimum of 20 students from each of the participating schools engaging in a series of school based learning, cultural and sporting activities in the host countries. Of the participating students in class exchanges, at least 20% must be identified as having Special Educational Needs and an additional 20% of students identified as experiencing significant socio-economic disadvantage, migrants or residents of social care organisations such as SOS Kinderdorf.
